Strangest Fashion Trends in the World

The imagination of the fashion industry is limitless. Strange fashion trends have shocked observers all across the globe.

You may have thought that peplum tops and asymmetrical skirts were peculiar, but you haven’t seen anything yet. It’s no secret that the clothes you wear can say a lot about your personality, and some people opt to make a statement by donning transparent trousers or rugged boots.

Sure! If you like a more relaxed approach to fashion and live in t-shirts and jeans, you’ll love these looks!

Blue jean boots

Anyone who thinks pants have to cover their derriere has never heard of denim boots. If you’re sick of wearing the same old boring shoes, these might be just what the doctor ordered. True, these denim boots resemble jeans from toe to shin, but who gives a hoot? People genuinely pay over $1,000 for these.

These wacky denim boots were released by high fashion houses like Versace and fast fashion chains like Forever 21. Put on your favorite pair of cut-up jeans and some heels, and you’ve got yourself a pair of denim boots—we dare you!

The Shoes are Made of Transparent Plastic

These see-through, plastic footwear have been on trend for a while, but they’ve taken off in 2018. The only catch is that while they may look good on the outside, only some find comfort or air circulation in them, which makes sense, as we have yet to learn who came up with the ingenious concept to construct an entire shoe out of PVC.

And yes, we acknowledge that the see-through heels may look stylish and futuristic, but we promise that you will feel differently after walking around in them for an hour.

Wide-Cut Sweaters

These days, oversized, thick-knit sweaters are all the rage, but this one is a little excessive. The thick yarn gives the blanket the appearance of the large knit throws that are popular on social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest at the moment.

Worn-Out Attire

We know you aren’t going to pick up this $700 outfit from dry cleaning if you’re one of those people who believes that such a service should be reserved for the wealthy.

This sheer-overlay dress by high-end label Moschino debuted with the label’s Fall 2017 collection. This gown made its premiere alongside a series of other recycled creations. This dress is described as a slip-on style on the Moschino website. Your clever marketing, Moschino, doesn’t mislead us; we know exactly what this is. They even left a paper tag reading “We Love Our Customers” on the garment.

“Shoe Laces”

This footwear completely transforms the concept of shoelaces. Putting a rope drape over shoes is an aesthetic choice we can only partially fathom. It doesn’t add anything to the shoe’s aesthetics or functionality and appears somewhat dangerous.

A terrible fall would result if someone stepped on one of these ropes. That heel is too big; a fall from that height would be painful. Let’s skip the extra step of making shoes with lacing systems and get to work.

Button-fly jeans

This next trend is dangerous. You could be deceived into thinking these are just any old jeans. This denim features a full-length zipper across the back. Wearing these ultra-modern types of denim requires constant vigilance. Someone may sneak up behind you anytime and unfasten that oddly placed zip.

We have no idea what this zip is for, but we can’t imagine someone being able to sit comfortably in these. Poor placement of the zip. Ouch!

Paint-Splattered Tights

When the weather becomes chilly, tights or pantyhose are an absolute must for women who prefer to dress in dresses or skirts. However, if they are also stylish, they can serve as an added fashion element. We now have melting tights. These clever tights mimic the effect of having a whole bucket of paint poured down one’s legs.

Platformed Crocs

Undoubtedly, Crocs were the most repulsive fashion phenomenon of the 2000s. They have returned, but not in the way you might expect.

Balenciaga, a luxury fashion house, released its version of the platform Croc in 2018. In a record-setting amount of time, these simple but somehow hip rubber shoes sold out at an astounding $850 a pair! A significant increase in price from the original Croc, which could be purchased for around $30 at most cheap stores. Those obviously would not have the Balenciaga label, so they were not as hip.

Big Chanel Purses

Every woman needs a timeless Chanel bag. It’s one of those ever-present items that everyone needs or covets. It has stayed the same for decades, and that’s why it’s so popular.

In an apparent effort to appeal to their devoted customer base, Chanel has introduced a new range of highly capacious handbags. The size and utility would be ridiculous. Chanel appears to be aware that modern consumers have a lot of possessions and want a convenient way to transport them all. The size of these bags is ludicrous. They need a warning label about possible health risks.
